File a document on a deal, company or contact — inline bytes or a Memory id.

Files a document on a record, as dropping it on the record’s page does: the file goes into Memory (OCR’d, annotated, searchable) and is filed on the record. Give content_base64 + filename for a small file (up to 4 MB), or document_id for one already in Memory. Safe to repeat — the same bytes are one document, and one already filed here stays one filing.

When to use

To put a pitch, an offer, a contract or a report on the deal, company or person it belongs to. For a file bigger than a few MB, upload it first with POST /api/v1/memory from a shell (the bytes never pass through the model) and file it here by the id that returns.

When not to use

To see what is already filed, use List Attachments. To replace a document, attach the new one and detach the old one — nothing is ever overwritten or deleted.
