Resolve a registration number to the registered business, and follow the ownership chain from a project company up to the group behind it.

Reads the public business register — Czech ARES, no key and no account — and returns the registered facts about a company: its name, legal form, registered seat, VAT id, and whether it is still active. entity_kind and is_business come from the registered legal FORM, not from the name, which is what makes them safe to branch on: a municipality, a residents’ association and an unrecognised form all fail is_business, where a list of authority names to exclude keeps letting the next one through. With owner resolution on it also walks upward — a limited company lists its owners, a joint stock company lists a shareholder when it has exactly one — and stops where the register stops disclosing, saying so in chain_ended_because rather than returning an empty answer. Registered owners who are natural persons are reported as such but never named.

When to use

Use after reading a registration number off a document, or when a record carries an IČO you want turned into a real company. The ownership walk is the reason to reach for it in sales: a development is built by a single-project company, and the group above it is who you are actually selling to — and who every sibling project belongs to. Pair it with Create company / Add note to land the group as the account.

When not to use

It says nothing about where a company operates or builds — address is the REGISTERED SEAT, which is frequently an accountant’s office in another district. For a project’s location use the locator in its own documents. For financial statements or credit data this is the wrong register.
