Scout L0 Gate

Some things a business relies on can never be safely exposed straight to the internet — a shared drive, an internal camera, a file server that only exists on your office network. Scout L0 Gate is a small, lightweight piece of software you install on your own network so Routario can still reach those things, without ever opening your network up to reach it.

How it’s different from a Scout device

Routario already has Scouts — a phone or tablet you carry, giving a flow a camera, a microphone, and a speaker. Scout L0 Gate is a different shape of the same idea: instead of a device in someone’s hand, it’s a small program that runs quietly on a computer or server already sitting on your network, watching over things that don’t move — a shared folder, a fixed camera.

What it’s for

  • L0 — file and system access. The gate can reach a shared drive (an SMB share, for example) so flows and agents can list and read files on it — the same Connected Storage capability you’d otherwise set up per-server, but running from inside your own network instead of needing each server reachable on its own.
  • L1 — one camera. Everything L0 does, plus a single camera feed attached to it. Proven end-to-end against a real network camera in internal testing — watching a fixed view and turning what it sees into structured events a flow can act on — but still early: it takes custom setup today, so it isn’t yet something you can turn on from Settings.

How it stays safe

The gate never accepts an incoming connection — nothing is exposed on your firewall for anyone to find. It only ever reaches out to Routario, the same direction your web browser already talks to any website.

You decide exactly what it’s allowed to touch and what it’s allowed to do there — a specific shared folder, a specific camera — before it can do anything. Routario’s cloud can ask it to act within what you’ve allowed, but it can never expand that on its own: no new folders, no new cameras, no broader permissions, without you declaring them locally first. Your password or credentials for that shared drive or camera stay on your own network — Routario’s cloud never sees them, only a name and the specific actions you’ve allowed.
