Name and colour your workspace

If you only ever have one Routario open, this is a small nicety: your organisation’s name in the browser tab instead of ours. If you run more than one — a sandbox alongside production, one workspace per company in a group, or several clients if you manage Routario on someone’s behalf — it’s the difference between confidently clicking the right tab and opening three before you find the one you wanted.

Two settings do the work, and they cost about ten seconds each.

Go to Settings → General. Both live in the Basics panel at the top of the page:

The Basics panel on Settings → General. A Workspace name field contains "Landker"; below it a Browser mark row shows nine icon swatches — Routario, Slate, Red, Amber, Lime, Green, Teal, Blue, Pink — with Teal selected. Workspace timezone, External URL, and Unit terminology follow, with a Save button at the foot of the panel.

Workspace name is the name Routario shows for your organisation. It appears in the sidebar, and it now finishes every browser tab title:

Jobs · Landker
Inbox · Landker
Configuration · Landker

The page comes first on purpose. Browser tabs get narrow fast — once you have a handful open, the title is cut to a few characters. Putting the page first means a squeezed tab still tells you what you’re looking at, and the workspace name fills in whenever there’s room to show it.

Set it to whatever your team calls the organisation. Up to 64 characters, though shorter reads better in a narrow tab.

A title only helps while the tab is wide enough to read. Open enough tabs and your browser drops the text entirely and shows nothing but the icon — and every Routario icon looks the same.

Browser mark fixes that. Pick one of ten options and your tab icon uses it:

OptionIcon
RoutarioThe standard mark — a dark tile with the orange R. This is the default.
Slate, Red, Amber, Lime, Green, Teal, Blue, PinkThe same R, knocked out in white on a tile in that colour.
YellowThe same R in near-black on a yellow tile — a yellow dark enough for a white R would read as brown.

The swatches show the real icon, not a colour dot, so what you pick is exactly what appears in the tab. Choose one and select Save; your tab updates as soon as the page reloads.

Say you manage three workspaces. Give each one a name and a clearly different colour:

Workspace nameBrowser mark
LandkerTeal
NorthwindAmber
Landker SandboxSlate

Now your tab strip reads Jobs · Landker in teal, Inbox · Northwind in amber, and Jobs · Landker Sandbox in grey. Even squeezed down to bare icons, the colours tell them apart — and the sandbox being visibly not the same colour as production is worth having on its own.

A few things stay on the standard Routario mark on purpose:

  • The sign-in and error pages. Before you’re signed in, Routario shows its own name and mark rather than your organisation’s — those pages are deliberately anonymous about which workspace you’re reaching.
  • The mark inside the app. The sidebar logo and the mobile header keep the standard orange mark. The browser tab is the thing that needed telling apart; inside the app you already know where you are.
  • The installed-app icon. If you’ve installed Routario as a desktop or home-screen app, its icon stays the standard mark.

Your choice of colour also doesn’t affect anything except how the icon looks — it isn’t a setting anything else reads.

Both settings are workspace-wide and administrator-only — changing them changes what everyone in the workspace sees, not just you. There’s no per-person override, which is the point: everyone in Landker should see the same teal tab, so a screenshot in a support thread means the same thing to everybody.
